MLA Style

Learner Description: This activity was created for high school students in the 10th and 12th grade language arts classrooms at Riverside High School.

Jigsaw Activity

This activity was designed to assist you in learning the in's and out's of formating and citing research sources according to the Modern Language Association (MLA) style guide. This jigsaw activity is based upon the jigsaw model found at The Jigsaw Classroom website.

Instructions

You will split into three different groups. Count off by three and get together with your fellow group members. Each group will research the proper methods and styles according to the Modern Language Association (MLA) for a specific part of MLA style. I will assigne the expert group numbers to each group and you will use the three websites listed to do your research. You will have 20 minutes to complete the research and then we will come back together as a class and each group will present their findings to the class.

Below are the groups, areas of study, and website resources. Do some thorough research that includes as much information as possible and organize it so that it is clear to your classmates when you present it. You are responsible for teaching your classmates what they need to know about your area of study just as they are responsible for teaching you their content. Please keep this in mind.
